If you are thinking of getting a health insurance for yourself or your employees learn what is the most tax efficient way.
For the owner.
If you operate your business as an ‘autonomo’ you may be able to offset as an expense the policy of your own health insurance and that of your spouse and children under 25 that live with you.
This tax allowance has a limit of 500€ per person and year.
The same tax deduction is applicable to health insurances for employees as beneficiaries.
When the business pays a health insurance for a member of the staff the company can deduct the expense and the employee obtains the benefits tax free.
In this case there is no limit to the age of children or even requirement that these must live with the beneficiaries. Again the maximum deduction is 500€ per year and beneficiary.
In order that your employee may benefit from a tax release the insurance policy must be paid by the company. This will be included in the wage-slip as a payment in kind.
If the employees pays for the policy and then the company reimburses him the costs he will not be able to apply this deduction.
