If you are living and working in Spain, you need to obtain your residency card ( EU certificate) . In this article, we explain what you need to do.
Necessary:
- Proof of Income (Autonomo Registration, Employment Contract, Pension certificate etc.)
- Original and photocopy of your passport.
- Proof of address (rental contract, ownership title deeds, and your legal registration – “certificado de empadronamiento” in Spanish)
- Statement from your Bank showing that you will be self-sufficient. (If you receive financial support from a family member, you would need to provide evidence of your family ties and that you live in the same place.)
- Health coverage. (If you are working in Spain you are covered by Social Security. In other cases, you will have to show documental proof.)
What to do
The normal process is as follows:
- Download and fill in the application form EX 18
- Pay the corresponding fee, with form 790 ). This needs to be filled in online and then paid at at any bank.
- Go to ” Departamento de Extranjeros” with
A – The original and a photocopy of your passport.
B – The application form Ex 18 completed.
C – Form 790 paid.
D. Proof of Income
E. Proof of Health Cover in Spain.
F. Proof of Address
The necessary documents to present change if you apply for your residencia on the bases of family member of other resident, pensionist, etc… We have laid out here the general case of a self employed individual.
They will then give you your “residencia Card” on the spot.
